1. Local-first by design
InsightPy is built so that the code you write, the results you produce and the files you create stay on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded to our servers automatically. Scripts and generated files are stored on your device (Documents\InsightPy); settings, assets and your AI API key are stored under %APPDATA% and encrypted with Windows DPAPI.
2. Information sent during license activation
When you activate a license, the email address and license key you enter, together with device identification data, are sent to our license server (license.h-insight.jp) to verify the license, check its expiry and bind it to your device. This is the minimum processing required to manage licenses.
3. AI code generation (BYOK) and external communication
If you use AI code generation in the paid edition, your device communicates directly with the AI provider you chose, using the API key you configured. The prompt you type and the related code are sent to that provider and do not pass through our servers. The privacy policy and terms of the provider you selected apply to that communication.
4. Anonymous launch statistics
To improve the product, the app may send an anonymous launch event (product identifier, coarse version information and similar non-identifying data) to the license server when it starts. It never includes your code, file contents or personal information.
5. Third-party services
Purchases are handled by payment providers (such as Lemon Squeezy); we do not hold your credit card details. AI providers are used under the bring-your-own-key model described in section 3.
6. Your choices
If you do not use the AI features, no communication with external AI providers takes place. Once a license has been activated, the core features — the learning centre and running your scripts — work offline.
